This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our veteran transition support platform.

As a veteran-owned company, we understand the unique challenges of military transition and the sensitivity of the information involved. Our platform is designed to support your journey across employment, housing, financial planning, education, mental health, and benefits management while maintaining the highest standards of data protection.

Our Commitment: Your data is yours. We will never sell your personal information to third parties. Period.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect different types of information to provide you with personalized transition support. Here's what we collect and why:

Personal Identification Information

Military Service Information

  • Branch of service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Space Force)
  • Service status (Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, Veteran, Military Spouse)
  • Military Occupational Specialty (MOS/Rating/AFSC)
  • Rank/Pay Grade
  • Planned or actual separation date
  • Years of service
  • Security clearance level (if applicable)

Employment & Career Data

  • Resume and work history information
  • Skills inventory and certifications
  • Job search preferences and saved opportunities
  • Application status and tracking data
  • Mentor connections and communications

Financial Planning Data

  • Income estimates and savings goals
  • VA loan eligibility calculations
  • Budget planning information

Note: We do not store actual bank account numbers, Social Security numbers, or credit card information. Financial calculations are performed locally and are not transmitted to external servers.

DATA SHARING & THIRD PARTIES

We DO NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.

We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

With Your Explicit Consent

When you opt-in to share your profile with potential employers through our Talent Search feature, or when you choose to connect with mentors.

Service Providers

Trusted third-party services that help us operate our platform (hosting, analytics, email delivery). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and cannot use it for their own purposes.

VA & Government Agencies

When you request benefits filing assistance, we may transmit necessary information to the Department of Veterans Affairs with your authorization.

Financial Partners

If you choose to connect with our financial partners (USAA, Navy Federal, Veterans United), we will only share information you explicitly approve.

Legal Requirements

When required by law, court order, or government regulation, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GO-180, our users, or others.

Crisis Situations

If we believe in good faith that a user is at imminent risk of harming themselves or others, we may contact emergency services. This is in accordance with HIPAA's emergency exception provisions.

DATA SECURITY

We implement military-grade security measures to protect your information:

Encryption

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Passwords are hashed using industry-standard bcrypt algorithms.

Access Controls

Role-based access ensures only authorized personnel can access user data, with comprehensive audit logging of all access.

Secure Infrastructure

Our servers are hosted in SOC 2 Type II certified data centers with 24/7 monitoring, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.

Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach, we will notify affected users within 72 hours as required by law.

Local Storage Notice

Some features use your browser's local storage to save preferences and progress data. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly sync your account. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.

HIPAA COMPLIANCE

GO-180 is committed to compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) for all health-related information, including mental health and wellness data.

Our HIPAA Commitments:

  • Protected Health Information (PHI) is encrypted and stored separately from other data
  • Mental health data (mood tracking) is never shared with employers or insurers
  • Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) are in place with all service providers handling PHI
  • Regular HIPAA training for all employees with access to PHI
  • Annual third-party security assessments and HIPAA audits

Crisis Line Interactions

When you interact with crisis support features (988 Veterans Crisis Line), those calls are handled directly by the VA's crisis services. GO-180 does not record, store, or have access to the content of those calls.

YOUR RIGHTS

You have full control over your personal information. Here are your rights:

Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.

Update or correct inaccurate information in your profile.

Right to Deletion

Request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data.

Right to Portability

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

GO-180 is designed for U.S. military veterans, service members, and their adult family members. Our platform is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately at privacy@go-180.com, and we will promptly delete such information.

Note for Military Families: While our Family Support resources provide information about services for military children, account registration and data collection is limited to adults (18+).

POLICY UPDATES

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors.
